A message from Kara

Hello and welcome to the Democratic Women’s Declaration. I’m glad you’re here.

If you are reading this, you are most likely a U.S. Democrat or former Democrat who is disenchanted (to put it mildly) with the Democratic Party’s full-throated embrace of all things related to “gender identity.” If you are a woman, you are probably angry that the Democrats in positions of power have decimated female-only sports and spaces. If you are a man, you might have women in your life you care about and you understand this issue. If you’re a parent of either sex, you might have a child (minor or young adult) who has been persuaded that he or she is the opposite sex and you’re desperate to get him or her back.

Regardless of what brought you here, I’m with you.

I came to understand the threats that “gender identity” poses to women and girls as a sex class in 2014, when a radical feminist friend said pointedly, “Think about it, Kara, it’s the ultimate penetration of our bodies by men.” After that, nothing would be the same.

I spent nearly twenty years working in the field of criminal law and justice. From my early days as a young public defender, through my time at the ACLU working to end mass incarceration and police militarization, to various government jobs I have held, I spent my career committed to making the United States a more just place. By 2019, that became completely untenable, as proponents of “gender identity” saw to it that I should not be able to earn a living. As I see it, I effectively “TERFed” myself out of a career.

So here I am. I served on the board of the Women’s Liberation Front from 2016 and as President of Women’s Declaration International USA from 2021 to 2024. I remain committed to both organizations. My commitment to this topic inspired me to publish The Abolition of Sex: How the ‘Transgender’ Agenda Harms Women and Girls in 2021 and The Reckoning: How the Democrats and the Left Betrayed Women and Girls in 2023. In August 2024, I published an open letter to Kamala Harris, asking her to say out loud at the Democratic National Convention that a woman is an adult human female. I didn’t expect her to do it, and she didn’t.

The mainstream media refuses to entertain any honest discussion of this topic because it serves their narrative to paint this entire issue as a matter of a “small marginalized community” being oppressed by the big bad Christian Right. They will not acknowledge that there are leftists who are probably even angrier than conservatives about this. So we’re left to fight for ourselves.

I’m not backing down, and I hope you don’t either. Let’s go.
