About
The Declaration on Women’s Sex-Based Rights was launched in March 2019 by the founders of Women’s Declaration International (WDI) to build international sisterhood and to urge nations to maintain language protecting women and girls on the basis of sex rather than “gender” or “gender identity.” Its authors were Maureen O’Hara, Sheila Jeffreys, and Heather Brunksell Evans. Shortly thereafter, leftist feminists in the U.K. launched the Labour Women’s Declaration and the Green Women’s Declaration. All three documents are committed to the liberation of women and girls as a sex class.
For some time now, American women have been asking me if there is a Democratic Women’s Declaration, similar to the Labour Women’s Declaration and the Green Women’s Declaration in the U.K., and the answer to that question has, until now, been “no.” I realized at one point that if I wanted there to be such a Democratic Women’s Declaration, I was just going to have to write it.
So I did
The Democratic Women’s Declaration contains an Introduction, ten articles, and a Conclusion. It was inspired by and is loosely based on the Declaration on Women’s Sex-Based Rights, but it focuses on the American experience. It is intended to be signed by any American (female or male) who supports the rights of women and girls as a sex class.
There are countless Democrats (and former Democrats) who are disgusted and appalled by the Democratic Party leadership’s insistence on compromising the sex-based rights of women and girls and the material reality of sex by embracing the sexist, homophobic, authoritarian, and industry-driven concept of “gender identity,” which does not exist in any real, material sense. We have complained to our elected officials. We have sent emails and letters. We have met with them privately. We have issued statements and filed countless legal briefs. We have testified publicly. Our concerns have been completely ignored.
If you are a Democrat or a former Democrat who wants to take a stand for women and girls as a sex class, please read the Democratic Women’s Declaration and sign it if you agree.
